Social media is an essential tool for your business and provides a near-instant opportunity to connect with your customers (and vice-versa). Market products, promote your brand and foster new business. Answer questions, obtain feedback about customers’ experiences, either directly, or indirectly.

Speed and convenience are two huge benefits of social media versus conventional email and print.

An active presence on social media establishes trust and an “always available” stance when it comes to customer support. These days, quality customer support, in particular, is more crucial than ever and should be placed squarely alongside the product itself in terms of importance.

Praise and negative feedback left by customers on public social media should always be responded to swiftly and professionally. This serves to increase transparency and impact interactions in the most positive way.

Your theme is capable of integrating the following hugely popular Social media channels:

  • Facebook

  • Twitter

  • YouTube

  • Vimeo

  • Flickr

  • Pinterest

  • TikTok

  • Snapchat

  • Houzz

  • Tumblr

  • LinkedIn

From March the June 29th, 2020, Instagram is revoking its API, preventing any Shopify theme from using a 'Instagram' section. There is still the option of using an app to bring in your latest Instagram images. Learn more


These settings control direct links to your external social media, sharing information and Image displayed on your social media link.

Linking Social Media accounts

To link your social media accounts to your store, head to the Social Media tab, following the steps below from your Shopify dashboard:

  1. Online Store > Themes.

  2. Select theme and Customise.

  3. Theme settings > Social media.

You will then see the list of social media link entry fields:

Here you can add in the social networks of your choice. Once entered, these will appear in your store’s footer and link up to the correct accounts on your product pages’ Social Sharing, depending on your settings.

If a link is not added to the link box, the respective social media icon will not display in the footer. Only when a link is added will the icon display on the storefront’s footer.

Social media links should follow the format shown in the examples provided below each link entry field.


There are options available in your theme’s settings that can help increase interactions with your social profiles.

  1. Online Store → Themes → Customise

  2. Theme settings → Social media

3. Scroll to the very bottom of this setting panel and you will see the following:

Enable product sharing

Toggles whether the sharing icons (mentioned below) are visible on all of your product pages.

Once enabled, these will display under the add to cart button, on the product page.

Here’s how it could look on your store:

Enable blog post sharing

Does the same on all individual blog article / post pages.

Share on Facebook

Shows a Facebook icon.

Tweet on Twitter

Shows a Twitter icon.

Pin on Pinterest

Shows a Pinterest icon on the product description.

Enable Footer Social Media icons

Once set up with their respective links, social media icons can be enabled to display in the foot of the storefront.

To enable the icons for your footer, navigate the following steps:

  1. Online store > Themes > Customise.

  2. Click Sections.

  3. Click the option stated 'Footer'.

  4. Under “Content”, click add content block called “Social icons”.

Hit save and finalise. Your social media icons should now display here:
